These are a ton of fun to do. I actually did two versions of this poster, and couldn't decide which I liked best...

Basketball seems to be "her thing." She had a wonderful experience. It was a lot of fun watching her learn a new sport.

One of my latest projects...

This is a recent project for my daughter. Her soccer team last year was the SYCAMORES, and the team name offered an opportunity for me to play with its appearance in the final piece.

The Process

My projects are typically produced in the following way:

Once I have acquired a suitable photograph of the subject, I produce a rough pencil sketch, which is then refined. After I have achieved the desired level of detail, the completed sketch is scanned and cleaned up on the computer.

The finished pencil sketch is then printed, and the painting process begins. After the painting is finished, this version is likewise scanned. Where requested, background effects (team logo, team name, etc.) are applied behind the painted figure, unless a complete photo-realistic background has been requested. The finished piece is then positioned on the poster, and the team/school name and player/athlete name (and number, or position) are applied to the poster, and a proof is prepared for the customer.

A Recent Project

This is a recent effort, actually done for my son. This format is one I often follow for my projects -- team or school name, often with the school logo, followed by the main features of the piece -- the athlete or sportsman, preferably in action. Other options available include the athlete's name and number, position, and stats or awards. The final version of this piece was produced at 16 x 20 inches.
